Azure Music has made a few changes for the 2026-27 season!
We are very excited to announce that Azure Music Homeschool Band Classes are now under the umbrellas of Crescendo Music Studios and Karar Performing Arts. The merge will offer performance opportunities at the Sherwood Park Music Festival, more instruction time and levelled classes. We can't wait to share the updates! This season's theme is: SOUNDTRACKS
This season is focused on Soundtracks from video games, TV shows, movies and the theatre. Music we will explore could include: Super Mario Bros Theme, Romeo & Juliet Ballet by Prokofiev, Carmen by Bizet, Rigoletto by Verdi, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Grease, Ghostbusters, The Greatest Showman, Harry Potter, Titanic, Frozen, Forest Gump, Sweet Caroline, Eye of the Tiger and many more!

Homeschool Band 2026-27
This is the 4th season of band classes led by director and conductor Vanessa Diehl.
About Vanessa
Vanessa is a homeschool mom and owner of Azure Music, DMV Coaching and The Vanguard Club.
Band Classes
In band class students will have an introduction to music and rhythms though a practical hands on method. Students will be introduced to concert band style tuning, playing together as an ensemble, learn to follow a conductor, read and play note values. Each band class will prepare at least two concert pieces for the year end performance. Students will increase their musical awareness, ability to identify wind instruments, increase knowledge of musical styles, dynamics, various time signatures, expand auditory skills, learn how to follow a conductor, learn how to tune own instrument, aim to play in tune with others, play scales and sight read.
BEGINNER BAND - player with 0-2 years experience on the instrument they are playing in class. Typically students in this group are ages 9-14. Students do not require previous music experience.
INTERMEDIATE BAND- player with at least 2+ years experience on the instrument they are playing in class. Typically students are ages 10-17
ADVANCED BAND - player with at least 2+ years experience on the instrument they are playing in class. Typically students are ages 12-17
New for this year is the partnerships with Crescendo Music in Sherwood Park and Karar Performing Arts in Stony Plain. Registration for classes all classes are open! Please choose the studio in your desired area and follow the registration process as per each location.
Crescendo Music Studios - Sherwood Park
Classes at Crescendo Music will be held on Tuesdays from October 2026 to May 2027. 3 Levels will be offered; beginner (no experience), intermediate and advanced band. CLICK HERE to learn more about the homeschool Big Band offerings and register through the Crescendo website.
Beginner Band: Tuesdays 10:15-11:15am
Intermediate Band: Tuesdays 11:15-12:15pm
Advanced Band: Tuesdays 12:30-1:45pm
Karar Performing Arts - Stony Plain
Join the beginner or intermediate band classes at Karar Performing Arts! Classes run on Thursdays October 2026 to April 2027 as part of the KPA - Homeschool Hub. Homeschool Hub offers Math, Science, Creative Writing, French, Drama, Art and Music. CLICK HERE to learn more and register through the Karar Portal.
